Note: Beyond the Keeper and the givers, jobs and ranks amongst the Posevoda are, like many things about this clan, fluid. A philosopher may also be both a healer and an orator. An explorer may take time to mentor or work as a scientist at home before going abroad again. Some roles are closely intertwined, yet just distinct enough to earn separate job titles. For examples, typically all ambassadors are also explorers, but not all explorers are ambassadors. There may even be a few Posevoda to which all the job descriptions apply at one time or another. Because of this, instead of listing positions slots below, I've listed the Ax'ranthael themselves followed by what jobs they hold in order of proficiency.

Positions:
Naos – Knowledge Keeper
Euryale – orator, explorer, ambassador
Nimiane – healer, mentor
Olivier – ambassador, explorer
Vinsh – explorer
Other/Unlisted Positions – giver, philosopher, scientist

The Knowledge Keeper, or simply Keeper, is the highest position in the Posevoda clan. He/She is responsible for retaining the collective knowledge of the Posevoda. Quite obviously, the Keeper must have an exceptional memory. The Keeper stays in a cave hidden underneath the Posevoda's island home. He/She doesn't actually make decisions for the clan, but does have considerable say because it is generally believed that the Keeper does know best. While there are some special circumstances under which the average Posevoda member or even non-clan Ax'ranthael may meet with the Keeper, he/she is typically only seen by the givers (see below). Even then, the givers try and keep visits to an absolute minimum, as it is believed that frivolous visits may interfere with or disrupt the Keeper's memory and possibly cause him/her to lose some of his/her vast knowledge. The current Keeper is Naos, and there are rumors that she has been alive since Sanctuary fused with Asylum and is, therefore, the only Keeper in Posevoda history. Of course, being the chronicler of Posevoda history as well as the subject of the rumor, Naos is the only one who knows if this is true or not.
The aforementioned givers are in charge of gathering new information from the Posevoda clan and passing it on to the Keeper. There are only a few givers at any one time. While it is not required that they have an excellent memory, it does help in cases where they cannot pass on their information to the Keeper right away. Givers are also responsible for delivering information from the Keeper to the rest of the Posevoda, should any of them want to access the Keeper's knowledge.
Orators are identified by their skill in speechcraft and discourse. Most of them either have a secondary role, or only serve as orators as a secondary role due to the fact that they are not always necessary. Debates are by no means uncommon amongst the Posevoda, but most Posevoda are versed in oration to some degree so professionals are really only necessary when it comes time to call a vote and some Ax'ranthael are trying to sway the opinions of others. Those who are less proficient with words will often call upon professional orators to write speeches or even debate in their name.
It may look as though philosophers just laze about all day, but they do actually put their minds through quite a workout. They are responsible for the knowledge of what lies beyond sensory perception. They discuss such high-minded ideas as what becomes of an Ax'ranthael's consciousness or soul after death, and the form that the deity Sanctuary takes – whether she exists in a physical form somewhere or she is some kind of energy, or maybe just an idea that lies in the subconscious of every creature on the planet. If a problem can be solved through extensive thought, the philosophers are likely working on it thoroughly.
The scientists are responsible for discovering and researching the physical matters of Sanctuary. Unlike the philosophers, scientists seek to explain the world through hypotheses and manipulation of real-world, tangible things rather than through words and logic. Despite what seems like an opposition to the internal explorations of the philosophers, a lot of scientists work alongside them in order to explain certain phenomena such as the mechanics behind thought-speech and the existence of a “soul” of sorts. Some scientists may choose to specialize in a specific field such as mathematics, alchemy, or medicine.
The role of explorer is rather self-explanatory. Some Ax'ranthael are reticent to take up this position, as it often means a life of separation from other Ax'ranthael. There are those who travel only around Sanctuary, but they are rarer because the whole of Sanctuary has already been mapped. Most explorers are those of the off-world variety, some choosing to remain close to their home planet and solar system while others take pleasure in journeying to the farthest reaches of the universe. There really isn't an organized one-planet-to-another system in effect, but all explorers do work together to keep track of what they have discovered so as to prevent having to re-examine already discovered and explored locations.
Ambassadors are much like explorers except they choose a place in which to settle and stay there to study the local culture and/or species. Even at home on Sanctuary, Posevoda ambassadors stay with foreign clans in order to stay up to date on their fellow Ax'ranthael. This is especially true of those clans that specialize in some particular knowledge or skill. Much more common, however, are ambassadors who live on other worlds amongst aliens, sending back information via long-distance thought-speech.
The mentors are the teachers of Posevoda, ranging the gamut from nursery-keepers (a sort of preschool- or kindergarten-level learning) to professors of advanced spatial-temporal metaphysics. If there is something the Posevoda find worth teaching, which accounts for just about everything one could possibly know, there is likely some Ax'ranthael or another who's willing to teach it.
The healers, naturally, are responsible for the health and well-being of other Posevoda Ax'ranthael. They will also quite willingly care for anyone else in need of their services. Thanks to the discoveries of the scientists, Posevoda healing techniques are quite advanced. Off all the positions, healers are probably the most widespread. Regardless of what other occupations they may hold, all Posevoda have at least a passing knowledge of basic medical techniques in addition to the healing, liquid breath power that most of them possess.

Government: The Posevoda clan runs by democracy. Each Ax gets a vote, even the explorers who register their vote via long distance thought-speech. While no one Ax gets more votes than another, there are often spirited debates on whatever the subject of the vote is, and generally the Keeper's opinion has most sway. (Though he/she doesn't actually participate in the debate. Because of his/her vast knowledge, his/her opinion is generally regarded as "right.") As far as political clout goes, orators follow the Keeper for obvious reasons, then philosophers, scientists, mentors, and givers in that order. Explorers and ambassadors usually have the least sway simply because they're rarely around and often busy. Participating in a lengthy debate through long-distance thought-speech isn't always an option for explorers and may be downright impossible for ambassadors. All of this, of course, is just a generalization. It's not uncommon to find a particularly intelligent and convincing giver who can out-debate a philosopher, or a philosopher who, while plenty intelligent, isn't a competent enough speaker to affect others' opinions.

History: The Posevoda clan has been around since just after the Dawn of Knowledge, their term for the fusion of Sanctuary and Asylum. This was when the Ax'ranthael became more than instinct-driven beasts, when they gained intelligence. Hence the term "Dawn of Knowledge." The clan started as one individual Ax'ranthael who became fascinated with this new power of the mind. This individual began gathering knowledge, but at a slow pace. So other like-minded Ax were recruited in order to gather knowledge faster. The original Posevoda became the first Keeper and the structure of the clan developed from there. When the Elehael turned their attention to Sanctuary, the Posevoda found themselves in need of defense. They had amongst their ranks no warriors. Because of this, they allied themselves with the neighboring Zodiac clan, formerly just an offshoot of the Posevoda who specialized in astronomy. In exchange for protection from Zodiac warriors, the Posevoda offer their services as healers. However, just because they can't fight doesn't mean the Posevoda don't contribute to the war effort. They do what they can to study the Elehael in the hope of finding some weakness to exploit, and it's said that a shrewd Posevoda strategist can turn the tide of almost any battle.

Characteristics: The Posevoda don't much concern themselves with a standard clan appearance, so virtually anything is possible, though radically different appearances are uncommon. Usually offspring of a Posevoda parent will have at least one or two Posevoda attributes. They generally have smaller, leaner frames and flowing attributes, and a cool blue or green is usually found somewhere in the color scheme of their young. Horns are often smoothly curved and cheek membranes may resemble waves. Some Posevoda also completely lack (or have only stunted forms of) elbow and heel spikes and tail blades. Posevoda manes tend to lie limp instead of spiking up, and they've been known to grow to great length. The Posevoda have largely liquid-based breath weapons, one reason why they're such good healers. Plasma or gas is somewhat rare for them but both still well within the realm of possibility. It's extremely rare and rather frowned upon for a Posevoda Ax to cut their horns. Many-tined horns are a sign of age and, therefore, wisdom and experience. Beyond the physical realm, one thing Posevoda may selectively breed for is an aptitude for a keen memory and a high level of intelligence. While no student is ever turned away, the Posevoda do treasure quick learners and strive to nurture this attribute amongst their own.
